SANTIAGO
Santiago, RD is the second largest populated city in the Dominican Republic next to Santo Domingo and is what I like to consider my home away from home. There is no city that I know better in DR than I know Santiago and I have developed some relationships there that I know will last my lifetime. Santiago is a bustling city located in the north-central region of the Dominican Republic. Known for its rich culture and history.
One of the city’s main attractions is the Monumento de Santiago, a towering monument that commemorates the country’s independence. Visitors can climb to the top for stunning panoramic views of the city and its surroundings.
Foodies will delight in the city’s culinary scene, which is known for its savory stews, hearty soups, and fresh seafood dishes. Be sure to try the local specialty, “mondongo,” a soup made with tripe and vegetables that is a staple of the Dominican diet.
Outdoor enthusiasts will love exploring the nearby mountains and waterfalls, such as the stunning Salto de Jimenoa waterfall. And for a taste of adventure, head to the nearby adventure park, where you can zipline, bungee jump, and more.
