One of the major cities of the Dominican Republic, Punta Cana is renowned for featuring world-class white sand beaches, luxurious all-inclusive resorts, and lively water sports culture. Its charm lies in its scenic scenery, boasting mountain ranges, turquoise blue waters, and long stretches of white sand coastlines. It’s something one can’t get tired of repeatedly gazing at!
If you are planning a DR trip, you have to make it to Punta Cana a least once, unlike most other travelers for whom this city is the key attraction and worth it. In this case, I have you covered with my list of six hostels worth staying! Let’s explore!
6 Worth-Staying Hostels in Punta Cana
Finding accommodation near most of the tourist attractions has remained my goal for over 25 trips of DR. All this made me stay in different accommodations, including hostels, hotels, AirBNBs and more. After staying in a handful of hostels, I have shortlisted some of the best ones to help you make an informed decision. To be honest, I have only stayed at The Eco Hostel, mainly because there are so many lodging options in the city.
1. GAVA Hostel
Bavaro is undoubtedly an ideal area for staying in Punta Cana, but which hostel should you choose? Why think of others when we have the best of all? The GAVA Hostel! It’s just 1.5 km from the Punta Cana International Airport and 4.6 km from the city center. It offers separate rooms to stay in for guests and travelers. Travelers can opt for either a double or a bed in a dormitory.
The amenities offered include a shared kitchen with all the basic kitchenware, a fridge, parking lots, free Wi-Fi access, an airport shuttle, laundry, complimentary toiletries, and non-smoking rooms.
2. Punta Cana Macao Guest House-Hostel
It’s more like a fusion of a guest house and a hostel. It’s a family-managed accommodation that has been available for over five years. Here, guests and travelers can find accommodation according to their choice. I booked a private room, and my experience was amazing. The rooms have a shared bathroom, an outdoor patio area, and a well-equipped kitchen.
You can also opt for shared accommodation so that the fare would get divided among the number of guests residing in a particular room. This option is excellent for those traveling on a budget. Notable amenities include the free airport shuttle and laundry services.
3. EcoHostel
If you want to live near nature, I recommend booking a bed or more in the EcoHostel! It’s a beautiful hostel made with recycled wood and bamboo. It features three rooms with twelve beds, a combined kitchen, a fridge, and a common area. The best thing is that it’s just 380 meters from the beach.
The hostel also features a beautiful terrace with hammocks from where I used to witness the picturesque views of the sunset and the town it overlooks, as it’s located in the city center near multiple outdoor restaurants, bars, and top tourist attractions.
4. Hotel Punto4
Don’t get confused by the name; Hotel Punto4 is one of the best hostels featured on the premises of Punta Cana. It’s just 4.8 km from Cocotal Golf and Country Club and 6.4 km from Cana Bay Golf Club. Punta Cana International Airport is the nearest to it, 20 km away.
I got every basic and exceptional amenity in an affordable price, like excellent room service, a concierge service, and a currency exchange facility. All the rooms have a balcony, flat screen TV, a terrace with pleasing garden views, and a private bathroom. Moreover, they also offer a continental breakfast every morning.
5. Hostal Palmas de Punta Cana F2
Situated 8.3 km from the city center, Hostal Palmas de Punta Cana F2 in the Bavaro district of Punta Cana. It makes the best option for those who prefer cooking themselves, as they can do so in the shared kitchen equipped with all the basic needs. Alternatively, you can order the delivery of food and drinks; that was the option I opted for.
They also offer airport shuttle service on demand, and you can rent a car. That was the most notable of all the services that benefitted me the most! There is also a golf field just next to the hotel. Last but not least, the staff is also quite friendly and can speak fluent English.
6. Lodging House Beach Punta Cana
Lastly, I have another accommodation in the Bavaro Punta Cana. This hostel offers accommodation for every budget range. You can also ask for specific amenities in your room if you need any. Besides offering private rooms, they also offer rooms for groups; you can book one if you require.
The amenities include free internet access, parking, air conditioning, an outdoor swimming pool, a fridge/freezer, self-catering facilities, a cooker, and more.
Wrapping Up
Punta Cana is lined with a plethora of accommodations, so finding one specific to your needs becomes difficult. Hope my guide helped you skip this issue and make an informed decision about the hostel to book in Punta Cana.
